Commission Info My Youtube Channel My Facebook Page
First off, let me explain why I have a Facebook fan page.
1. Now that I'm settled in my house and I'm able to be around every room in my house without that much problem, I decided to start working on my goal of doing voiceover work. I know right now it's mostly fan work and me auditioning like crazy just to get somewhere, but right now that's a better start than nothing. I'm also looking into different online teachers and wondering what to learn and etc.
The first reason of why I have a facebook fan page is because of that.
2. The second thing is to help promote my art--at least the works I'm most proud of. I have a youtube channel for that and I thought it could help with numbers if I put videos and post my work there.
3. The third is to combat something that happened on youtube a while back.
I did a request for someone a while back and in return they did an advertisement for me on Youtube letting me know that I did work on dA.
Sadly, this person stressed that I did "request fanart". He put that in his profile and in the video itself.
Because I was a wuss, it took me a while to confront this person and let them know that I don't do work for free like that. In fact, after that I just shut down requests all together. (I know I don't get a lot of them, but I'm noticing some people asking for multiple requests or really detailed requests and I was starting to feel like it was unfair.)
After a long talk with that person, it was resolved, now with another video on their youtube saying I do "fant art commissions"...meaning I know they didn't read-or they just couldn't read.
I just gave up the fight and said eff it at that point. If I continued with that person I bet things would have gotten a lot worse, and since I'm no 'professional artist', let alone 'one that's getting paid a lot', I had no right to talk.
Still though, I'm being asked to do something through Skype
When I volunteered (b/c I'm still a nice person
ushover=wuss) I then got the description that I was going to draw six people.
I guess (once again), I'm volunteering, but since I'm not a professional artist (like enterbignameondAhere), I can't complain.
First the description was one thing, and when I tried drawing that, I explained that it might be a bit of a problem drawing six people on one paper with descriptions like that, especially when only two had full descriptions and the others were go willy nilly.
So after sketching (and failing) twice, I said I wanted out b/c this was a waste of my resources and I was working on other things (which I was).
Then there's this new description. I already gave up on saying no b/c at this point that meant all the work might be put on someone else.
I asked then if that was the new description that perhaps I could have it all confirmed in an EMAIL, which copying and pasting what we just did in an email shouldn't be that hard to do. I was getting all this through skype and we all know how it has the history of omitting things in old chats.
Is it wrong to defend yourself against things like this? Or ever? I've had this problem not just with art stuff, but with anything else in life. I know I'm small, but I do have limits when I'm backed into a corner. I don't know how to react anymore because if I do get mad and put my foot down, I lose people and apparently get called names and magically 'have an attitude'...
Also, I have to be the nice one and always say yes or they'll never help me when the time arises, too.
Because I will apparently ask for help sometime, but I know I won't get that help all the time. I just don't know anymore.
Anyway, I do have new videos up on my youtube. I noticed they were longer than my usual videos, and I hope that's okay.
I was wondering anyone wanted to hear me talk through these things, and if so, I could talk about some things in the speedpaint, just wouldn't know where to begin or what to talk about...if that makes any sense.
If I don't write for a while, then Happy Holidays to everyone and have fun this season.
